The Fitness Centre’s Fight for Survival: A Community United
Over the past 12 months, many of us have felt the heartache of witnessing our favourite local stores and businesses shutter their doors. Here in Ontario, the COVID-19 pandemic, the lack of adequate recovery support for small businesses, and soaring inflation have taken a heavy toll on our communities. One industry that has been particularly hard-hit is fitness and wellness. Among those facing this uphill battle is The Fitness Centre, a beloved establishment that has served the women of Brantford for four decades.
A Beacon of Support and Wellness for Women
For 40 years, The Fitness Centre has been more than just a gym; it’s been a community of supportive women, a hub for innovative fitness programs, and a safe haven during life’s challenges. Whether as a member, staff, or owner, this place has left an indelible mark on countless lives, providing personalized service, a focus on women’s health and wellness, and a comfortable environment for its members.
The Ongoing Struggle
The past few years have been nothing short of a financial rollercoaster for The Fitness Centre. COVID closures forced the team to contend with ongoing expenses like rent, utilities, and staffing, even when the doors were closed. Despite their best efforts, they find themselves saddled with over $30,000 in outstanding debt. Current monthly revenues of $15,000 simply can’t keep up with monthly expenses of $22,000.
A Call for Support
Now, more than ever, The Fitness Centre needs the support of its community to stay afloat. With costs exceeding $100 per class, we are actively seeking new members to join our unique community and maximize the value of each membership. The urgent need to close the outstanding rental debt gap looms large, and every contribution counts.
An Exciting Opportunity
The Fitness Centre is thrilled to announce an Open House & Showcase on Saturday, September 16th, 2023. This event is a celebration of community spirit and a chance to raise crucial funds. The outpouring of support has been incredible, with generous donations pouring in. You can now participate in a sweepstakes ticket draw with accessible pricing options, and there’s also a 50/50 Cash Draw with a terrific cash prize up for grabs.
The Open House & Showcase promises to be a day filled with creativity and wellness, featuring live demos, protein shake “flights,” and local entrepreneurs from the Health, Fitness, and Wellness Industry showcasing their products and services designed with women in mind. Mark your calendars and secure your draw tickets – your participation can make all the difference.
The Fitness Centre is a beacon of strength and support for women in Brantford, but it’s facing unprecedented challenges. As they fight to keep their doors open, they rely on the support of their community. Join them on September 16th, purchase tickets for the draw, and stand with them as they strive to survive and thrive once more. Your support means everything to this cherished institution, and together, we can make September 16th a day to remember.
